Book Cover Design
Services in the UK
A reader encounters your cover before they encounter a single word you have written. In those first few seconds they make a judgement about whether this book is for them, whether it looks worth their time and whether it belongs in the same category as the other titles they already love. That judgement is made almost entirely on the basis of design and it happens faster than conscious thought. A cover that gets it right opens the door. One that does not means the book never gets a chance.
At London Publishers our cover design service is built around one purpose: making sure your cover does its job at every size and in every context. We design for print, eBook and audiobook formats and we work with authors across fiction, non-fiction, memoir, self-help, business, children’s books and academic titles. Every cover we produce is built from scratch around your specific book, your genre and the readers you are trying to reach.

Readers who love books develop a sharp instinct for cover design whether they realise it or not. They absorb thousands of covers over the course of their reading lives and they know immediately when something looks right and when it does not. A font that belongs on a thriller appearing on a cosy romance. A colour palette that signals literary fiction on a fast-paced action novel. These mismatches register instantly and they cost authors sales before a single page has been read.
Our designers at London Publishers study genre conventions across every category we work in. We understand what distinguishes a children’s book cover from a memoir, how academic and business titles need to communicate authority without appearing inaccessible and what separates a commercial fiction cover that converts browsers into buyers from one that gets scrolled past. Every brief starts with your book specifically, not with a template we have already applied to a dozen other projects.
We also design with every platform in mind from the outset. A cover that looks striking as a full-size print edition needs to work just as effectively as a tiny thumbnail on an Amazon search results page. We test for both every time.

What’s Included in Our
Cover Design Service
A great cover is the result of research, craft and a deep understanding of your reader. Here is every element we handle to make sure your book looks exactly as it should in every format and every context.
01
Consultation and Brief
Before any design work begins we take the time to properly understand your book. We ask about your genre, your target reader, the tone of your story or content, any visual references that appeal to you and what you want readers to feel when they see your cover for the first time. This brief becomes the foundation everything else is built on and ensures the design we develop is genuinely specific to your book rather than a generic interpretation of your category.
02
Front Cover Design
The front cover is where reader decisions are made and we treat it with the weight that responsibility deserves. Our designers develop original artwork built around your brief, your genre conventions and the platforms your book will appear on. We present initial concepts for your review and develop the chosen direction through a structured revision process until the front cover is something both you and your readers will respond to immediately.
03
Full Cover Design, Front, Spine, and Back
A complete cover wrap requires every element to work as a cohesive whole. We design the front, spine and back cover as a unified piece ensuring the typography, colour and visual language carry consistently across all three surfaces. The back cover includes your blurb layout, author biography placement, barcode positioning and publisher imprint, all formatted to the exact specifications of your chosen print platform.
04
eBook Cover Design
An eBook cover operates in a completely different environment to a print cover. It needs to communicate your book’s genre and quality at thumbnail size in a crowded digital storefront where it is competing for attention against hundreds of other titles simultaneously. We design eBook covers with that environment as the primary consideration, ensuring your title is visible, readable and compelling at every size it appears in across every platform it is listed on.
05
Audiobook Cover Design
The audiobook market has grown significantly and having a cover that performs in that space requires a specific approach. Audiobook covers appear as square artwork across streaming and download platforms and need to carry all the visual impact of a print cover in a format that favours bold, clean design. We produce audiobook cover artwork that works seamlessly alongside your print and eBook editions while meeting the specific requirements of the major audiobook platforms.
06
Illustrated Children’s Book Covers
Children’s book covers occupy a category of their own. They need to appeal simultaneously to the child who will read the book and the adult who will buy it, communicate the age range and tone of the content at a glance and stand out in a market that is extraordinarily competitive visually. Our children’s book cover designers understand this balance and bring both creative imagination and commercial awareness to every illustrated cover project we take on.
